Short Film Idea 5

1) Genre = Horror 

A group of long term friends decide to have a sleepover as they are all about to go off to different colleges. At the sleepover they decide to play dares but, not just normal dares. The chant that they say is haunted and bring the souls of the dead to life. (but these girls don’t know this)

The first girl gets dared to go into a forest at midnight and walk through, but she had to have some evidence that she did it so she takes a handhold camera. When she gets back the girls decide to watch it. In the corner of the footage there is a white figure that appears and disappears slowly getting closer to the girl. Suddenly the camera goes black and the girl who filmed it screams.

            When they have got over what just happen they dare the second girl to go into any house she wants but for some reason that even she doesn’t know she goes into the house where when she was a little girl she saw someone get killed. The cold quietness of the house brings her to a complete stand still and the others have to go in and drag her out before the police come.

            The third girl then gets dared to jump of a bridge into a lake the girl is willing to do it, so when she does jump off the bridge in to the lake, she starts to drown. the others jump in after to her but it is too late when they pull her out of the water she is already dead. 
the girl  that  dared her to jump off the bridge has a mental breakdown and says it should have been her. all of a sudden the third girl starts to breath and the fourth one drops dead. everyone is in shock and after they have got over what has just happened they decide to stop playing the game. however the evil souls that are now bound to them leave them a frightening message on a wall. the writing is written in blood and says that four started the game and four dares most take place. so the third girl dares the first to go home and so she does. When she gets there everything seems normal but when she goes in to the bathroom someone stabs her in the back with a knife.
when the others find out that she is dead they are so mortified that one of them kills herself.
        30 years later the second girl who is the only one left goes to sleep and sees her three friends chanting the same chant that they said that got three of them killed. it slowly fades out to a glowing figure, then blackness, with the chant getting louder in the back ground.

Short Film Idea 3

Storyline 1: Zombie Apocalypse,

Horror/Thriller

2 characters wake up one morning thinking it will just be a normal uneventful day, until they discover that not everything is what it seems. Character 1 wakes up to walk to school, walks out of the door and sees that the roads & streets are completely empty which seemed abnormal as it is normally a chaotic place. They saw cars just abandoned In the street, house doors left open, rubbish and debris lying around. At this point character 1 was in panic mode.

Character 1 could then see a silhouette of a human to start appearing in the distance. At first, the character felt relieved that they weren’t alone, but as they moved closer to the silhouette it was visible that the person looked injured and covered in blood. Character 1 immediately ran the help the person, but then the person also started running toward them whilst looking furious & crazy.

Character 2 (a friend/neighbour) called character 1 in a panic (as they were looking out of the window at character 1) to warn them that these injured “people” were very dangerous and that do not approached them under any circumstances. “The media are claiming that we are under attack… By Zombies!!!”. As the figure was rapidly charging toward character 1, they then ran for cover. But it was too late. The zombie had caught up to character 1 and had started to attack them. Character 2 instantly ran out to help. but it was again too late. Character 1 had been bit. Character 2 fought off the zombie and took them to safety. Now character 2 had to find some sort of way to cure character 1 before they would turn into a zombie.

character 2 heard on the radio that the drug “Zometa” has been proving to permanently make test subjects turn back human, if they had only been bit. They then knew that they had to find this drug fast before they were also bit/attacked. They set off on their travels to find a chemist/hospital that isn’t too far away. They were about 100m away from the chemist. It was just in sight. then all of a sudden a zombie surprise attacked character 2 from behind

Short Film Idea 2

 There's a very normal family the mum is very caring towards her children, the daughter is madly in love with her boyfriend and the son is crazy for football.
One day the mum comes home feeling unwell and it starts to affect her behaviour. The audiences sees this as the mum starts to become aggressive and lazy. Then it affects her son who starts to become obsessed with violent games and then it affects the daughter who starts to hit her boyfriend. They start coughing up black blood. Then they all start acting the same (moving at the same time ect...)
Then a friend comes over to the house and the zombie family eat the friends brain and they become a zombie too.

Short film Idea 1

• There are a group of 4 people who receive a threatening message saying that they should leave an amount of money at a certain place but they ignore it. Then that night one of them gets strangled to death by a dark hooded figure. This shocks the group so they leave the money in the place that they were told. however this doesn't please the hooded figure and they kill the second member of the group in a park at night. They get dragged off into the woods here a scream then they die.
  there are only two members of the group left so they go to the police but the officer doesn't believe them and on the last murder you see that the hooded figure is the other member of the group but after they have kill the last member of the group you see that they are being controlled by the police officer.

Short Film Idea

 

This idea is about a main character (either male or female) who is going about everyday life but it is like everyday is the same and everything is repeating. The character is able to predict what is going to happen next and is able to stop things from happening (eg. a planet pot getting knocked off a wall by a cat). The character keeps repeating the same thing but the audience is being shown it through different shots and angles. By the end of the film the audience knows that the character is actually being controlled by a gamer as, he/she is a character in a computer game (eg something like Sims).The film ends with the computer character stood at the edge of the screen of the computer looking out into the real world and then screen goes black and you here a smash/crack connoting that the computer character has escaped.

1.From studying Film Media Studies at Barnsley College it has opened my eyes to all the amazing possibilities of having a career in the film industry.

I am applying for your  Media(Film) Production (W600) course as, I really want a career within the film industry and I believe that your course is the best one to give me this opportunity.Your course will teach me new skills and how to develop skills I already have.

2. Preliminary Exercise AS Media Studies. Role: While making this video I not only acted but, I also helped in the editing and filming process.

This was the first piece of work that I did during my time studying and learning about the media industry.This exercise was performed so that we as a group would work as a team and develop and learn skills like, the 180 degree line and match on actions. From this clip you can see how I have improved from being able to only perform simple but yet necessary skills like a match on action to the graphic match and elliptical editing. There are some issues with this footage as some of the clips had to be flipped as we had filmed them over the wrong shoulders. This mistake helped me learn how to create over the shoulder shots correctly and how to edit the footage together so that the mistakes are not noticeable.

3.Delusion AS Media Studies. Role: I contributed to the making of this by helping plan the production of the film (research) the filming, editing and also acting.  

The planning of Delusion was a very vigorous process as, we all had different ideas but, the main aim was to make it appeal to the audience.The brief was to make the first 2-3 minutes of a film. We decided to make a psychological thriller as it was not only a challenge to inform the audience about the storyline of the film but also, to create a piece of footage full of emotion and our passion for the subject. I think that the strengths of Delusion are the variety of shots used for example, the graphic match used at the very beginning, the elliptical editing and the audio.

There are a few areas of the short film that could be improved. For example, there could be more dialogue to improve the audience knowledge of what is happening throughout the film.

The technology used when filming Delusion was very important to get right. We decided to use the Sony HD1000 as some members of the group had used it previously.we thought that we should film in HD as it would improve the quality of the footage and make it look more professional.

4.Journey A2 Media Studies. Role: I worked on the camera as well as helping to create the contents of the journey.

We did this journey exercise so that we could practise skills for elliptical editing, as we decided to use this technique in our A2 film. Our journey is only a 30 second clip and only took one day to film and edit together.

5.The Forgotten Truth,(film, radio trailer and poster)

Role: my role in the making of all these products was filming, editing and helping with the planning of both the radio trailer and poster.

At the beginning of the year we were given a brief to create a short 5 minute film of any genre. As a group we sat down and put some ideas together to create the storyline which now lies on our film. The Forgotten Truth was recorded on a Sony HD1000 camera and was edited on the program final cut express. We found it difficult at times to get everyone together so that we were able to film and even harder to make all our shots flow, especially the scenes where Damian ( the protagonist) is searching for his girlfriend Lily. We found this hard to put together as, it had to be broken apart and placed into other scenes to make the audience believe that it is flickering from reality to memories of the past.

The radio trailer was very simple to create. We took the audio from the forgotten truth and copied it into a new project. We then cut it apart and kept the most interesting parts of the audio and put them together.By adding a simple voiceover we were able to create a short 30 second radio trailer that complements our film well.

The poster for the forgotten truth was made by another member of my group as she had experience with using photoshop. I did make my own poster for the film but, we as a group decided to go with her poster as it looked more professional and suited the film.

Damian is the main character that this film will revolve around. This film is about Damians life to which he doesn't know the truth about. The truth is that he has murdered his wife by beating her to death but, doesn't realise it. This makes him a widowed man who as a result of his condition is being held in a psychological home for criminals who are ill.

Before Damian killed his girlfriend Lily he was a very quirky and happy person. He liked to spend time with his family and like to take long walks through the park. On his first date with Lily he took her to a small restaurant which is where their love for each other bloomed.

 Lily's role in our film is that she was Damians girlfriend before he murdered her by beating her to death.
She is part of what helped to bring out Damians bipolar illness as he became attached to her and wouldn't let her go see her own friends. Lily was threatening to leave Damian and that is why he killed her.

Before Lily meet Damian she was a caring and easy to be around person. She was interested in keeping fit and was at university training to become a PE teacher as she loved children.

Personality: Serious when at work but, a happy and likes to be social


Dr Luna's role in our film is that she is Damians doctor. She is also the one who sends Damian back to his room thinking he wouldn't hurt himself. However she was wrong as when Damian returns to his room he hangs himself. Originally the film was going to end with Dr Luna walking into his room and finding his body but we decided to leave it so that the last thing the audience see if Damians feet elevated from the floor giving the impression he hung himself.


Out of work Annabelle likes to relax after stressful days. She does this by watching TV and making homemade food. She also likes to play Sudoku (as it keeps the brain active) and read through her medical books so that she is able to diagnose patients when needed.

In our film delusion the nurse is what summer is seeing (hallucinating) and even though summer believes that the nurse is coming for her, she is just really a figure of her imagination. However the nurse is real but she is just trying to do her job of looking after summer.

She has nightmares of seing her dead boyfriend, and needs therapy which lets the audience know she's slowly going insane.

Short Film Idea 6

1) Genre= Action 

Main characters = Lexi and Jack

Lexi has just moved to a new town she seems like a normal girl but really has a terrible past. At her new school she meets a boy called jack who is very inquisitive. (he wants to be a journalist) she is a reserved person and doesn’t want to tell jack too much as it could endanger his life. One day jack follows Lexi home and finds that she has been living in a squat and he wants to now why. Lexi tells jack that he has to leave her alone because something bad could happen. Jack walks out and is shortly picked up by the people Lexi is running from. They want to know where the key is jack doesn’t know what they are on about but when they threaten to kill him he says he will find out where it is from Lexi.

            When jack asks Lexi where the key is she is stunned that he knows about it and tackles him to the ground. He tells her what has happened. Lexi gives in and tells jack where the key is.( the key opens a box that contains a data chip that has all the information about how to break out all the criminals in the world out of prison, the chip was created by Lexi’s dad who is in prison but she wants him to stay there). Jack goes to the bad guys with what he thinks is the key.

             When they find that it isn’t the key that fits the super unbreakable box they tie him to a chair and send Lexi a video message of them beating him up. So Lexi runs to try and save him but she knows the only way to do that is to die as there is no data chip in the box that’s just to fool people as, the data is imprinted on her brain. When Lexi tells them where the data is they tie her to a laser and are about to drill into her brain when jack knocks out the man holding him and jumps in front of the laser causing it to malfunction. Jack lays on the floor still and unmoving. Lexi releases a chemical bomb that she had in her watch and it blows the building up, with everybody inside of it. There all dead even Lexi and jack but are they.
